Espresso Olympics

Location: Coffee Education Center at the Phoenix Roastery
Details: Time for all baristas to strut their stuff. First we will fractionate a shot and experience the multi-phasic nature of espresso. Then participants will be challenged to put three randomly selected fractions in order of extraction, while blindfolded. This is a great sensory awareness exercise. The next competition is blindfolded tamping, to see who can get closest to 30 pounds of pressure. Lastly, each barista will pull their best shot and be judged by a jury of their peers. Very entertaining, fun and educational!
